I LOVE Kayaking!
Today has been a PAWFECT day for a puppy like me!
We were going to come home about lunchtime but we were having so much fun and the sun was shining that we didn't leave Cornwall until 4pm.
Anyway. At 10.30 this morning we got to Gorran Haven beach and hired our Kayak. I had both of my leads on. I had my face collar and my harness with my big double lead attached to both. Mum and daddy wanted a lot to hold on to in case I made a jump for it.
Anyway, the tide was in so the beach was really little and packed. Mum and daddy thought, uh oh, we are going to be the beach entertainment getting Lily on there *giggle*
Well, the man put mum and daddy in their lifejackets (they didn't have small enough ones for me!) then daddy had an oar and sat in the back, mum settled down in the front. The man picked me up....plonked me on mum and wooooosssshhhhh we were off!! He pushed us really hard out to sea before I had time to think YIKES!
I was feeling a bit wierd. The floor wouldn't stay still. I was wobbly wobbling and felt a bit drunk (not that I have ever been drunk of course!) Mum had hold of me around my chest and I snuggled back into her, sat upright and watched the world go by! I was shaking a bit at first, It felt very strange to be ON TOP of the water. Normally I am IN the water! Hee hee.
Anyway mum had hold of me real tight and was whispering in my ear that I was a good girl and to stay there, so I felt better and soon got used to it. My nose was in the air and I sniff, sniff, sniffed the lovely sea smell. I kept looking over mum's shoulder at daddy who was rowing away. He said it was so cute seeing mum and I sat up front all proud! Everyone we passed pointed at us and waved. I felt very special.
We went really far, around the headland, having a good explore. There was a couple of times I saw a seagull and thought about jumping in after them but mum held me tight. Then I really relaxed and laid down between mums legs with my head resting on the side and my nose nearly in the water! Every now and then it would splash over my nose making me sneeze, hee hee.
I LOVE it. Mum and daddy want to buy one when we finally move home to Devon. We would love to do it lots more and apparently you can get life jackets for doggies like me!
The only problem was that we couldn't take the camera with us because it would get wet. This picture was taken when we just came in to shore and daddy ran for the camera. The only trouble was I was more interested in all the children playing around me than posing for a blip properly! Sorry!
After that we went back to the lovely secret beach (Vault Beach) that we went to yesterday. The sun came out and it was sooooo hot. We stayed for 2 hours and I had the BEST time. I swam with both mum and daddy. We took some brilliant photos of me diving in the sea with daddy but I know how much everyone wanted to see me kayaking so I didn't post one of those.
On Monday I promise to upload all my holiday photos to flickr and facebook so that you can see them all. I really have had the BEST week. I am soooooo exhausted now that I slept all the way home (3 hours) and have only woken up briefly to write this!
I may be a bit behind with blipping tomorrow, I have a busy day and then I am going to Exeter to Buster the Border Terrier's 1st birthday BBQ. So it may be a back blip on Sunday if I don't get time.
Bye for now
Lily xxx
