The Rainbow

Close members of my family were visiting from Boston, and this was their last evening. We took them in for a walk in the fields behind our house.

As we walked, the skies darkened in front of us, and there were ominous rolls of thunder. A few spots of rain fell...

The sun was fairly low, and conditions were perfect for the formation of a wide arc of rainbow. This photograph shows the result. Even the secondary arc is clearly visible, at least in the original higher-res picture.

A pot of gold was at the other end of the bow, but it started raining too heavily for us to be able to reach it.

A very nice evening walk, which was followed up by a visit to a riverside pub, and we didn't even mind getting a bit wet!
