Touched Down in Iceland
We just arrived at our Icelandic hotel. We are droping off our bags before heading into town to have a little stroll and some fish and chips.
The lighting at Heathrow is so great for stranger shots. Very similar to the softbox effect in Paddington station. Also, people sitting around doing nothing are almost always happy to be snapped. I had already decided on a face for today as I wanted to illustrate how finding the perfect light can make the eyes really shine but I had to have a little change of heart. As we were exiting the terminal I was absolutely floored by what might be the most beautiful lighting conditions ever.Icelandic light is bright and shadowless. I looked up and a giant Viking was making such deep and meaningful eye contact with me I had to turn around to see who was over my shoulder. His smile made his eyes dance all around. And there I was forgetting my family and walking right up to him! He was one of those quiet giants but he did not mind my lens one bit. So here is my first Icelandic face. I christen him Ingolfur, after the original Viking settler of Iceland. Isn't his face just amazing?
I better run. Iceland awaits us and the sun is shining. Forgive me if I don't have a chance to catch up with you!
