Through the wood

T asked N and me to help him drive some young cattle after breakfast. They weren't going very far but through a private wood where we have access to one of our fields. These were young weaned calves in the winter we had bought and as they were not sucklers they behaved themselves very well in a group! All the same one has to be careful because if they stray into the wood it would be impossible to get them out again! T thought one was missing after counting them so we drove round the fields they were in looking in the ditches and found nothing but a water leak from one of the troughs. These leaks are a worry as one can end up with literally thousands to pay the water company. T eventually found the problem and a further leak in the small tunnel under the railway line. We will have to go through our cattle records to ascertain whether there is an animal missing or not.

No harvesting today.

The moth I rescued yesterday has disappeared so it either flew off or a bird nabbed it.
