Linseed tipped
Hooray! T was able to get on with the linseed harvest and has now completed half the acreage successfully without too many blockages. He has had to drive the combine harvester so carefully without listening to the radio and at the slightest sound of trouble has jumped off and sorted it out.
It is being tipped by trailer into a heap in the barn and pushed up with the manitou as it just slithers down into a flattened mass. Tomorrow the grain people will come and test it for quality before taking it away by lorry later. The pale bits in the heap are the seed cases which have escaped going with what remains of the plant out of the machine again into neat rows lying in the field. A neighbouring farmer wants to buy some of it for cattle bedding.
At the end of the day we can see why it is not widely grown, nor will we make much money for all the trouble that has gone into growing and harvesting it but it was interesting and the flowers are beautfiul. It will be used usefully once it is sold!
