Walking with trees
I recently came across the work of landscape photographer David Tarn. He calls his approach ?blending?, moving the camera during the exposure to distil the essence or mood of a scene in a way reminiscent of impressionist painting. I've recently tried to recreate this technique when photographing woodland. The outcomes vary hugely both with technique - especially the speed and how smoothly the camera is moved - but also with the type of trees. These are mostly beech. I rather like this experiment and will try it with other trees and at different seasons, perhaps when the leaves start to fall and there is more light.
