Beachy Head
A quick trip to Birling Gap to catch the afternoon low tide. When the tide is low enough you can walk east along the wave-cut chalk platform to a point where there is a stunning 180 degree view from the Beachy Head lighthouse in the east to the chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters, past Cuckmere Haven and on to Seaford Head in the west. I wanted to take some photographs from this point to create a panorama for a photo challenge. Unfortunately the tide wasn't as low as I'd hoped so I had to wade out into the sea to get the full 10-frame panorama. This is the easternmost section . The 43 metre high lighthouse - which was erected in 1902 - is dwarfed by Beachy Head, the largest chalk sea cliff in Britain.
