Fish & chips on the beach
It's all over bar the shouting. Last full day of our holiday with only the journey home to go.
We had a few things to fit in today including a trip back to The Needles to do the chairlift ride down the cliff, as we had paid for it on Wednesday but it was suspended due to the high wind. When we got down to beach level we had a very nice surprise in that there were boat trips out to the lighthouse so managed to get up close to the view I had been photographing from a distance throughout the week. I have spared you another of those photos as they are really just closer views of blips already posted.
Then a slight dilemma emerged in that the weather forecast includes heavy rain tonight and our standard routine is to take our awning down the night before we leave but had not factored in the time spent on the boat trip so were running out of time to get the rest of the awning down. What's the dilemma you ask - well the last of our very important holiday activities had to be fulfilled. We always have fish & chips on the beach while on holiday. It wasn't remotely achievable at Longleat and the weather hasn't been particularly favourable on the days that we have had opportunities here on the Isle of Wight. So fish & chips on beach versus dry awning - no contest, fish and chips wins every time.
We headed for Sandown Beach and found a good, if expensive, chip shop to by our food and then headed to the beach for food and the kids (including Mrs W) had a bit of a paddle. It rounded off the holiday nicely, especially as we actually got the awning down when we got back to the caravan so everything is set for the return home tomorrow and we can have a slightly more relaxed morning.
And the blip says it all: the Watters family on a deserted beach having had our tea and the kids about to get themselves soaked in the background. That is before Alex decided to turn himself into a human doughnut.
