AWESOME Mt. Hood from Parkdale, OR
LOL, this was about as AWESOME as I could get on today's outing, I guess. In order to get Mt. Hood as a crisp outline, one needs to take it on a clear, cold, winter day, I think. In the summer, it gets hazy, and no amount of fussing is going to make this any better. Still, Mt. Hood is a pretty awesome dormant volcano. Dormant being the key word here. It wakes up, it will be a different kind of awesome.
We went with auntie on the Mt. Hood Railroad on an excursion trip from Hood River, OR, to Parkdale, OR. It's a leisurely haul up the Hood River Valley, then we had lunch, and not much time to look around and take photos before the train honked the horn to signal the return trip. We had a lighthearted train robbery with three young bandits, who were pretty cute, I might add, and then an Old West Shootout with the Sheriff before they gave up and were hauled off to jail.
The weather was wonderful in Hood River, and the views were great. Back in town we went to the local Famer's Market, which was pretty small by our standards, but nice, nonetheless. We then went down to where the wind surfers were. This is a world class venue for wind surfing, and today was the perfect windy, but warm day. The place was packed.
All in all a fun day. I'd hoped for something a bit more awesome, but it is what it is.
