Fond farewell

Said a sad farewell yesterday to Kelly, an Aussie, ex-colleague and friend, who is moving to Canberra soon with her family. She gave me back this mobile I had lent to her children, Niamh and Maeve. It was given to our first son by Karen - a half Scottish, half Australian lass who moved to Australia from Scotland over 30 years ago. Willie Wombat, Duck-billed platypus, Kanga, Koala and Kookie Kookaburra were familiar friends for many years!

At least we have instant global communication - what must it have been like a hundred years ago bidding farewell to friends or family?

Sorry, but it's a pretty rubbish photo - the strings have nothing to do with the mobile .... it's just where it is hanging now ... but in some strange way they go with it!
