The Cutest Cupcake

This fine specimen was purchased at Foodies Festival at Holyrood Park this afternoon from Cakes by Lyndsey whose beautiful cakes caught our eye - and not just because of the wasps which were devouring the icing on the dummy cakes.

After all the rain, one of the most significant things about the Festival was the mud oozing through our toes as we wandered around to the various stalls. We had been warned to wear wellies, but it's summer and my trusty wellies gave up after the severe winter due to the amount of trudging about in the snow we had to do.

This years Foodies Festival was a big improvement on last year's and we got to visit some friends from Crail Food Festival. Darren from Chilli Papa's was there, and Carol-Anne and Chef Kevin from Cochrane Cottage.

We really enjoyed the Chef Demo given by Steve Brown from the Edinburgh School of Food and Wine, who showed us '3 ways with Mackerel'. Think we'd really like to try smoking mackerel as a challenge for our next cookery experiment.
