That Will Do!

Another sylvan hut.

Today Mr Flum and I drove down to Kelso, had a wander round the abbey ruins, bought interesting meaty things for tea, browsed through a charity shop, had coffee, it was very pleasant.

Then went down the Yetholm road.

While clearing out the photographs in my mother-in-law's house the boys found one of a hut, which belonged to a colleague of my father-in-law and it reminded Mr Flum and his brothers of family holidays spent there, over 50 years ago. I have the impression that these are not fond memories, as they included earth toilets, cooking on a recalcitrant primus stove and spiders in every corner. Mr Flum decided that we should see whether it is still there.

We found the hut in its idyllic situation, it was boarded up, knee-deep in grass - and the earth toilet is still there.

The Border Country is beautiful but maybe that is not the ideal accommodation.
