Rancho Los Cerritos

We took a garden tour of Rancho Los Cerritos, an 1800-era rancho in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach. We expected the gardens to be like those at Rancho Los Alamitos which we had toured last year. Where Los Alamitos had manicured beds and tidy pathways, Los Cerritos was considerably rougher. It turns out that Cerritos has been subjected to a variety of owners, not all who had preservation in mind, before the city of Long Beach took over, while Alamitos had remained family owned until passing to the city of Long Beach. A colorful flower close-up had to serve as the day's Blip instead of the overall vistas I had in mind prior to visiting.
