Respect

Well, half an hour at Sumburgh Head today, trying to freeze the action of passing birds has given me a lot of respect for those who do this on a regular - and successful - basis! Most of the birds have now left the cliffs but fulmars are still present in large numbers, many with young that have still to fledge. It's been a very poor breeding season for sea birds due to the bad summer weather it seems.

A more leisurely day today after our efforts on Foula, but hopefully tomorrow we'll lace up our hiking boots again to visit some more fantastic places.

Oh, I'm loving Shetland so much and the weather again has been superb, although I suspect a change is afoot.

Did I mention the Basking Shark I saw today?
