Know thy subject!

There is a reason why I don't normally shoot birds. I can tell a seagull from a pidgeon, a crow from a magpie - and that's about it.

However, I believe strongly that knowing one's subject will lead to better photographs. And at least you're able to tell "what is that thing in your photo" in case someone asks it.

This bird I know. Actually I was just presenting the amount of detail my Powerhot can capture to a friend, but the light was nice and it made a photograph. Well, almost at least.
