Sweet
Somewhat of an emergency blip today since I have been off work
with a stomach upset.
I love sweet peas and there are a bewildering variety. Peas make
me think of Gregor Mendel, the Augustinian friar who bred peas
and bees and whose observations on what happened when he
bred certain peas together became the start of the science of
genetics. His experiments with bees were less successful
since controlling who bees bred with turned out to be harder
than controlling who peas bred with.
Sadly Mendel was never recognised for his pea work during
his lifetime though happily he was recognised for his Friar
work, becoming Abbot of his monastery.
