Early Autumn
Been quite lazy lately. Not sure why. Most things are going well. My new nose hasn't fallen off lately. It has been hot, but we didn't break the record for most 100+ days. We even had a good rain. So I really have little reason to not be blipping.
On my ride to work this morning, I took a newly constructed trail along a creek. The City of Dallas planted a bunch of trees along the path and earlier this summer, they looked beautiful. Reminded me a little of the north country. Yesterday was the first time I returned to my full daily bike commute. A series of dead trees struck my mind. These were the ones that I enjoyed so much earlier. Now they soon will be gone. An early autumn has come to Dallas County. Leaves that should be green are now brown. Trees that should be providing shade have been struck down even before reaching their prime.
But life goes on. The young sometimes die. Most often don't and age and die. I hope that only these trees have died and not the will of the city to provide a green, shaded place to ride and walk and be with nature all the while surrounded by freeways and rail lines and apartment buildings and offices.
