Stirling standstill.
Daughter was moving out of her flat in Glasgow today and we took her down to provide the transport. Initial plan had been to have a bit of free time in Glasgow before heading back mid afternoon. The intention was to miss the traffic and get home so we still had a bit of the day left.
After dutifully checking out traffic Scotland and having a look see on Twitter, we headed down onto the M9. The road certainly was clear... until we arrived at Stirling that is.
Mile upon mile of queuing traffic held us up for over an hour... we eventually came off the road and headed for Edinburgh so that we could get onto the M8. It wasn't our first choice, but when we saw another sign saying that the A80 was also closed, it seemed like the best option!
Am I wrong to think it's bad that, other than five guys in yellow jackets standing with their arms crossed looking at the traffic, nothing was happening? Am I even more wrong to think that since we have a national website to advise us of these disturbances, somebody could have plugged the info into it?
On way back I felt sorry for all the poor sods that were still stuck in the traffic.... which was, by then, even worse than it had been on the way down.
On the up side... I got a picture of the castle from the road.
