Last breath of a dying summer...
You always know when the summer is coming to an end. There's a bit of a chill in the morning air, the bleached crops bend over with the weight of fruit and there are lots of these guys flying around in the weakening sun. In twos and threes they descend upon the thistles as they compete over the last drop of nectar in the remaining flowers.
Decided to post it in mono (really a faint semitone) because I've done the colour version many times before. Also doesn't seem so inappropriate after the "summer" we've had! Sharpened using a high pass filter.
