Alexandra Palace
A wee bit annoyed with myself today, went down to Alexandra Palace Park in search of a Wryneck. Not seen one this year, but got fantastic views of one last year. So not expecting to improve on the photos it was purely for the tick on the "year list", plus I quite fancied a nose round Alexandra Palace.
The bird had only been "found" today and reported at 8:40 & 9:30, but by the time I arrived there were no obvious birders around so I checked for further news - at 12:00 it was reported that there had been no further sign of it. So rather than wasting my time hunting for it myself I headed off for my nose round Alexandra Palace.
So why a wee bit annoyed? Well when I got home the bird was reported at exactly the same location "mid afternoon" and again at 18:35!
Headed out this evening to a local park to remind myself what birding is about - enjoying just looking for birds and other assorted wildlife. Had a really lovely time and apart from finding RCB a rather down to earth follow up to yesterday's Hoopoe I had great views of a Spotted Flycatcher, a couple of Green Woodpeckers and a rather gorgeous wee Blue Tit.
