Erik had arranged a visit to the local Abbey brewery for today. The place was a lovely old Cistercian foundation called Valdieu. The monks have left, but the Trust that runs the place now have continued the brewing tradition. A very nice lady gave the tour in English, for the benefit of the embarrassingly monoglot among us (though my Flemish has come back to the extent of following a conversation to a small degree, if not to speaking).
After the tour of the brewhouse, there was a Retail Opportunity, with Free Samples.
A nice drop of beer!
The female head-brewer was pointed out to us at the back of the sample room... a truly beautiful young woman with long flowing hair. Who runs a brewery. All the men in the party paused for a brief moment in their conversation, got a distant look in their eyes and heaved a sigh.
