The cardplayers
Backblip
Off to Teuven, a village in a strange little corner of Belgium, a few km from the borders with Germany and the Netherlands... Aachen and Maastricht are much closer than Liege.
I had not seen so many of our lovely friends for seven or eight years, but immediately we were back to our old ways: drinking pintjes and talking nonsense, mostly! :^D
I embarrassed the kids (who had been little boys and girls when last seen, and are now cool teenagers), by saying "Ooooh, hasn't he/she grown?!" like a daft old Auntie.
The gîte was a dairy farm with a huge converted barn, and a tiny wee old bakehouse (where we were sleeping) with dangerously low beams everywhere (and mosquitoes). Everyone gathered in the great hall of an evening to play music and cards and hang out. Careful observation will show that the musicians occupy their traditional position Below the Salt. ;)
