village walk
So, today one of our neighbours organised a walk for the village. As in, all the villagers were invited to come along and join in. About 12 of us met at the pub this morning and boarded the full size coach, which took us to Cleobury Mortimer. We then walked in the beautiful sunshine via Mawley Hall and Shakenhurst, to Mamble where we stopped for light refreshments at the pub, met up with about two dozen other villagers who'd been brought there by the same coach and we all walked the rest of the way back to the pub in the village where we were met by a flaming barbeque and a man in an alarming hawaiian shirt.
I think a lot of us wondered why we live in a village at the top of a hill, particularly on the final scramble up to the pub. But we were richly rewarded by a pint or several, great food on the bbq, some traditionally dodgy raffle prizes and some very good company. This is the life, you know. It really is.
