A seasider's view

Irvine harbour's curious building

Another great day - this time, swimming lessons took us over to Irvine for the morning, so I packed a lunch for us to have in the car by the harbour (a tad blowy out).

Had a walk along the beach while Shorty made something artful with sand and shells. Stunning views everywhere, clear views down to Troon and Ayr, and back to our own patch of Salty-Coats.

I've always loved this building in the shot, it's so unusual and striking. I've been labouring under the misapprehension it was a garrison or look-out or summat - until I googled it tonight... I'm sure you've all guessed by now, it's an automatic tide signalling apparatus, a la Mr Boyd have a shufty here. Thought not!
