Waiting, waiting, waiting. Many of our main roads are in a terrible state of disrepair and emergency repairs are underway in many places.

This entails one lane being closed and traffic being stopped in each direction alternately. Depending on the length of the closed carriageway, waiting times can vary from 10 minutes to half an hour.

While twiddling my thumbs at this stop, the sign, rubbish* and moon in a brilliantly clear sky was too much to resist.

* Throwing all of the rubbish in your car out of the windows and emptying the ashtrays onto the ground while waiting is an illness that afflicts many South African drivers.
