Crop rotation
This mornings walk as lovely - still, sunny and warm - Today programme forecast is London-centric and wrong as usual.
I noticed that at least 5 huge fields that I passed which were all planted with veggies last year (potatoes, carrots, cabbage, cauli) are this year all planted with grain. Not surprising, as grain prices are sky high, and the farmers need to make every penny they can while the sun shines. This might be just normal crop rotation, but I suspect it is just following the money.
But - who's growing all the veggies? Just us in our back garden. So - I hereby predict sky high veggie prices come the summer - you have been warned.
And remember you read it here first!
