The not-so-secret garden.

I've been following ''The renegade gardener's'' blog.
A lass in Oak Park Michigan, who has incurred the wrath of the council by actually growing food in her front garden, which for inexplicable reasons them over there choose to call a ''Yard''.
Our yards are either a unit of measure or a paved/ concreted area, usually, at the back of the house.

Today we set off for a wander round to the Micro-market attached to the nearest garage/petrol station. En route we passed a front garden full of strawberry plants and evidence of other veggies having been harvested. I do remember seeing cabbages there last year.

For reasons best known to our local bunch of idiots (oops ''Council''), they have seen fit to reduce all the gardens along this road by between 1 and 3 mtrs/yards and plant shrubs.

The assorted consequences of this are that
1. They need to spend money and time have a gang of unqualified gardeners severely wound said shrubs from time to time.
2. All the nice roses have died the death and there are now several yard of wild Rosa canina (Dog rose) reaching halfway across the pavement to try and getcher.
3. Anybody who likes to garden has less to work with.

Again, for reasons best known, the wilderness at this point narrows to a meager couple of feet and the current residents have done a sort of land-grab, used the excess stones dug out during the planting as edging, and done their own thing in the space.

I like it anyway.
