Texas and Pacific Warehouse
I had planned to return to the Post Office next door to my condo and continue the series I began a couple weeks ago. As I was setting up, the custodian came by and asked me "What do you think you are doing?"
I replied, "Taking pictures."
"Not without the postmaster's approval," he said. "Since 9-11, you can't take pictures of government buildings without prior approval. All you have to do is ask the postmaster and he will give you a badge and you can take all the pictures you want."
Being the good citizen I am, I did not argue with him. I am sure he didn't make up that rule. But here I am in a building no one wants. Taking pictures in public areas where homeless folk come to cool off and to get warm. Does it really make sense that a terrorist is going to blow up an under utilized building? Maybe if one takes the thought process to the extreme.
So I went across the street and took these shots of the Texas and Pacific Railroad Warehouse. It is also a much rundown building with a lot of promise and little hope for the future. And while I was taking this pictures, two homeless men came out of the post office, walked across the street and entered this building via a broken door. Maybe they are also suspected terrorists plotting to take down rundown landmarks.
