Irene Watch

The surf continues to develop at Wrightsville Beach. Yesterday there were a handful of surfers. Today I counted about 50 on either side of the Crystal Pier. Surfers follow their own rules. When everyone else stays out of the ocean, the surfers move in. Since normal waves are not too dramatic, they live for hurricanes. It appears as if the eye will miss this beach and perhaps come ashore (or not) further up the coast. I continue to watch Hurricane Track to follow its progress.
