old truck
Went for dinner last night at Daves place, it had indoor sitting area and an outdoor place. Inside there is a massive log fire burning and Dave explains that the locals probably woundnt come unless it was lit as they thought it was so cold. We would be on the beach back home in this heat and we opt to sit outside. Dave kindly moves the patio heater to someone in more need of it that us.
In the morning its time to pack up and get back down river, so we head back up to Daves place for some breakfast and as nobody is around he takes the time to talk to us, so far the people we have met have been fantastic. If you get the chance meeting Dave and Fred is a must, they should be a tourist attraction in their own right. I would pay good money for this. Fred is building a golf course a hole at a time when he can be bothered and has already got 40 paying members who play his first 3 holes, except they have to play them six times over. You really cant make this stuff up.
Fred (Snowy) and his sidekick Rod join us for breakie and he hands around some unidentified meat product that his mate made. Its very spicey and I suspect that it might be roadkill but I don?t want to offend him by not eating a piece.
Just tasted like spicy chicken or salami to me. Im hoping it?s the vampire wombat mentioned previously and Snowy has taken revenge on the little blighter for scaring the living bejesus out of me. Snowy informs us that Rod plays footie and is in the paper almost every week, it?s a small town so this is not surprising as there cant be much else to write about except Rods superior skills with his balls.
We have a right good laugh with these boys and have to drag ourselves away as the boat is due back today. As a parting gift Snowy gives me a speeding ticket with fine attached that he had lying around in his Ute in case my own speeding fine hasn?t arrived by the time we go home. Thanks fella.
We cruise back up the river at which time Captain Barbosa destroys several floating trees. I pretend Im a pirate the whole way home and keep making harhar noises everytime Barbosa asks me a question. I want to splice a mane brace but don?t really know what that is, so I settle for shivering me timbers and singing Yo Ho Ho a Pirates life for me over again as it?s the only pirate sea shanty I know.
On a different note, I am sorting through my pictures and the pretty butterfly from yesterdays update reminds me how much Im missing my beatifull daughters?..
Its puts me in a bit of a huff the rest of the day and I don?t enjoy my half a cow steak dinner as much as last time.
However, looking on the bright side, we made it back without sinking the floating static caravan despite Captain Bill Barbosa?s best effort to sink the good ship Ruby.
