1st of May bonfire

As a tradition on the first of May on several places on the island a bonfire is lit.
The one I came to see was the one on the beach near West.

I was a bit dissapointed to see it wasn't nearly as high piled up as it used be when I was younger. The childern all build their own small fires around the large heap in the middle. You are not supposed to, but everyone does it...


Traditionally the fires are lit to welcome spring (and to burn all your old rubbish after spring-cleaning)





Now I'm all smoky and smelly
