New & Old

What an idyllic day we had on Out Skerries today. A very calm crossing with sightings of minke whales and dolphins on both the outward and return journeys.

Out Skerries itself was nice with pleasant coastal walking but nothing as dramatic as Foula or Papa Stour. It's clear from the amount of fancy cars using the 1 mile road on the island that there is plenty of money on the island - probably a result of the fishing I would guess.

So we pack our stuff tonight for our return home tomorrow evening. If the weather forecast is anything to go by, we're leaving before the weather takes a turn for the worse - I just hope the forecast gales don't make the homeward journey too unpleasant. At least they'll be from behind us!

A great - no, fantastic - holiday and we've no intention of leaving it another ten years before returing.

The blip is of an old coastguard lookout shelter, now sadly very much the worse for wear.
