The magic of the movies (8): Extras
Lots of action going on this evening, including this extra coming over to the barrier to say hi to his other half! I had to think long and hard about what to blip, as it came down to this, another shot of one of the extras, a very thoughtful looking woman, a collage of folk walking across the square, or a shot of one of special effects cars, controlled not by the person in the driver's seat, but by the person in a cage on top of the car. For his sake I hope the weather stays dry! However, I decided there had been enough vehicles this week, and a person would go down well, and I do like this shot. I had a great laugh chatting with the security guard and with two other amateur photographers on the barrier, one about 10 years old (with a DSLR but hardly any battery left, so he spent most of his time keeping his two dying batteries warm, and his mum was taking lots of photos on her phone to make up for the few he was able to take) and the other somewhat older, and a Christian who knows the charity I work for. The security guard was absolutely lovely, and was telling us all the best places to stand to see things. Apparently Brad Pitt has left Glasgow for Budapest via Aldershot for more filming, after having been spotted in McDonalds with Angelina and two of the kids by one of the security folk on her day off. There is a rumour that Tom Hanks may be here soon, but I'm somewhat sceptical about that one! Another wee story - in spite of the 24 hour security presence a car was stolen from the set at about 1am last night, and promptly crashed into the nearest lamppost. The production crew are not happy, as it wasn't one of the cars brought here to be wrecked.
