As good as new
Not in this photo obviously though.
This is the inside of my old amp which died recently. As a result of getting the decks recently I needed to get a new amp. I was discussing this with someone from my work and, when I explained that it had been cutting out every five minutes or so, he suggested that it could just be a build up of dust inside causing it to overheat. Given that it was about fifteen years old I reckoned he could be onto something.
I opened it up and, as you can doubtless see, there was a fair amount of stoor built up in there right enough. Ten minutes with a soft paintbrush and a can of air and it was looking much cleaner.
I'll have to give it more extensive testing but, touch wood, it appears to have done the trick meaning I no longer need to buy another one.
