Baby Pine Cones

This shot was taken out of a second story window. The top of the pine tree is covered in these baby pine cones. If they all reach their normal size of about 6 inches this tree will be bending over to touch the ground in a couple of months. I wonder if there is some animal that feeds on them since there never have been that many before: or perhaps this conifer has now been out of the house after Christmas for long enough that our little tree is all grown up.
