Still the One

The elavators at work have just undergone a complete revamping. All the controls were switched over to digital, the doorway bumpers were replaced with lazers, and the cables, brakes, tracks, rollers, and floor levelers were all replaced with state of the art equipment. The cars opperate now like riding a clowd from floor to floor; its really smooth and a welcome change.

The thing that didn't change was the speed control shown in the picture above. They haven't found anything as smoothly operating and reliable as the "ballance balls" that have been part of elevator design since the days of Mr. Otis himself. It seems funny that such old technology is still the best we have.
