Spring(bok) Day

Today was a perfect first day of spring but in South Africa we were also celebrating Springbok Day! Our rugby team had a huge send-off parade today before they left for the World Cup tournament which takes place in New Zealand. There were flyovers by air force pilots, a concert in Mandela Square and a special trip on the new Gautrain to get them to the airport. The South African spirit is very high and the team are now more inspired than ever to retain the World Cup trophy. All the celebrations were broadcast live and we heard most of it on the car radio as we were driving home. We saw 2 of the display helicopters with flags flying beneath them, on the way to the square. Today South Africa was painted Green and Gold!

We left early this morning to get to an orthodontist appointment in Sandton. It is never easy to have to drive through bumper to bumper traffic.

On the way I spotted this hot air balloon. There is something about the idea of floating away to an unknown destination that always inspires me when I see one.

While in Sandton I popped into the hair salon and took the car in for a service. The last minute jobs before term starts for real.

PS. I had to backblip yesterday's pretty entry because of email connection problems!
