Herbs from the allotment / eviction notice
Since I had a day ticket for the bus and the girls fell asleep before 7pm, I popped to the allotment for a bit. Did some weeding, ate a single glorious autumn raspberry, picked this selection of herbs to complement the plain butterhead lettuce we've got in the house. Then, as spots of rain started, I collected some seed from the white cornflowers for next year, and headed home.
Spotted an eviction notice on the old fruit market site, dated today. Looks like some lawyers have got exercised about a handful of caravans that have been there. FFS, the site has been empty for years. I don't see what the fuss is about.
Herbs, clockwise from left: salad burnet, calendula flower, lovage, chive flower, mustard, chive stalk, parsley, hyssop.
Not sure if the bitterness of the chive, lovage and hyssop and the heat of the mustard is going to work well with the light cucumber tone of the salad burnet.
