Sunset
Another day ends, the sun closing it with beams of finality
(I wish I could let go of you, let go of how I love you)
The light accents the tips of the Tetons, and I am reminded
(I want you here to enjoy it with me, to share the intimacy of a moment)
My heart, the one I've tried so hard to supress, comes alive with a throbbing ache; and I miss you, I want you.
(Maybe if I let go long enough, you'll fade)
I've had enough, had enough of reaching for you and you're not there.
(I was only trying to bury the pain. I was trying to save me and I lost you.)
There are two of you, one who knows me best of all, and one I fell for.
(When did I give away my heart so easily?)
The day ends, and the ghosts of the memories fade into the sunset.
