Burning down the House

Finally saw some of the effects of the great fire of Shandon, 2011. That'll wipe 9/11 aff the papers, naw? It will round here! Of course, it was a chip pan at 5am that went up; some drunkard nae doot. Quite a refreshingly traditional outrage, really. Of course wir modern emergency services arrived mob-handed. All the surrounding streets were cordoned off, PR was altered, and.. they erected an incident tent! Better than a bloody water hose, eh? Luckily there was no loss and life and the fire burned itself out after a few hours of observation.
Back to today - I've been celebing! One of the chaps I was with watching the Scotland game was no less a personage than the drummer from legendary Edinburgh punk band the Valves! "Ain't no surf in Portobello"! An OK bloke for a hibby, really.
