Dawn from Symonds Street

Today I left home just before sunrise to run to Maungawhau. By the time I reached Symonds Street, the sun had emerged above the horizon, and in the absence of low cloud it was extremely bright. This was my third or fourth attempt to show the risen sun, and the sky, without too much dazzle.

I chose this picture over later shots taken while running, and also some macros of freesias. I was very tempted by one picture, but decided on this because of grandeur of the sunrise, and the power the sun sends the earth.

I f we can but use it wisely, our world will survive and we with it.
