Ghost Forest

During the great earthquake of 1964 this area of the Turnagain shoreline dropped 10-18 feet.

Saltwater seeped into the high water table along the sunken shoreline and killed the nearby trees. Many of the trees are still standing but are dry and lifeless.

It's a ghost forest now.
