Swing Bridge.

45years ago i used to fish here with my old fella. I fished on the far side of the narrows with worms and caught perch, dad fished the near side with bread and caught roach. The bridge was always closed and when a boat came i would push it open for them to save them stopping thus minimising the time i was not fishing. For my efforts i usually received a threepenny bit, sometimes a tanner. Happy Days.
Nowadays with the increased amount of boats using the Lancaster canal the bridge stays open pretty much all the time, unless and animals have to be moved. So i had to get a job.
It's at Hollowforth, near Woodplumpton.

Too windy for the bike today, torrential rain also at times.
Decided to go swimming for a change. Mistake!! I'm not a great swimmer but i usually manage about 50 lenghts before getting bored. I got in first and hugged the wall to get a clear swim. Next minute loads of 'jellyfish' appeared and decided to discuss knitting and the price of bread. I managed 10 lengths in a zig zag fashion.
So before tea i went for a walk/very slow jog through the fields and along the towpath for an hour. and didn't have to veer off line once.
