Ngarua Caves.
What a journey we have had to day, we have seen and looked at so many interesting places and taken photos. It has been a long journey and we finally reached our destination at Pakwau after 6pm.
On the way , at to the top of the Takaka Hills we visited the Ngarua Caves.
It is unclear who actually discovered the caves but the names of Explorers have been inscribed on limestone formations. The signature of H.B. Everett, a 17 year old surveyor's assistant from London, dated 1876, is the earliest record.
This picture actually shows some of the limestone with many names written on it.
These days it is all controlled and they are not to be touched at all and you stay on a walkway. Fabulous place to go.
Sorry will not be commenting tonight.
Tomorrow we are off on a bus trip to Farewell Spit.
