Farewell Spit

Today Dups and I went on a Farewell Spit Echo Tour, which took us up the Sandspit (top of the South Island)to the Lighthouse. The driver gave us a great history all the way, and pointed out birds, we stopped to look at fossils, ran down sand dunes, and many other things. We really would have liked to go to the Gannet Sanctuary, but the tours were not on to there until next month as there were not many Gannets about. However we did see some flying with nesting material in their beaks, so they are arriving.
Oh well will have to come back another time.
