The Owl

This butterfly, from Central and South America, has fake owl like eyes and feathers to scare away predators. The eye was very shiny.

We had a fascinating visit to Butterfly World. Surprisingly the most interesting creatures were the tarantulas - one had just shed/climbed out of its skeleton - and the young girl looking after them was a mine of information. What an amazing job to have!

Seeing the beautiful irridescent blue upper wings of the Blue Morpho butterfly as it flew around was delightful.
