The stump

Thank you all for comments yesterday.That's the first time i hit the spotlight page 2 days in a row. All i've done for todays blip is nip down to Frampton marsh a shoot the stump. Considered B&W but liked this better.

Those of you who have been with me since i started will know that my blip journey started because i had back surgery. I had a Microdisectomy to be precise, and i've been off work since. This is the longest i haven't been at work since 1996. Incidently i am due back next Tuesday.

So when i found out i was gonna have the op i looked into getting into a rehab unit for afterwards. As it happened my union, which i had paid into for 4 years offered as one of its benefits a place at a rehab unit in the lakes. So i applied. And guess what? Yeah i got fobbed off. Some jumped up know it all cocky fucking admin clerk tried telling me i had opted out of the "welfare fund" so i wasn't even eligible to apply. So i went to my local rep who said.."sorry i can't help", so i went to my area rep who said...yep "sorry can't help".

Not one to give up easy i got in contact with the finace officer of my union who said in a really smug way "Don't think you can get round this we've got all our loop holes covered!"...Loopholes??? Fucking loopholes???? This is a union that boast Strength in Unity and he is talking about loopholes like it's his job to prevent me getting the care i need.

So i went to his boss the General seceratry, basically the top cheese in the Union and i assured him i wasn't about to go away and i hope he liked media attention. He said...."Okay Mr H you can apply for the rehab centre and i will talk to the finance officer about how we can fund it"

Victory number 1. Half way there. 2 days later i get a called back for the smug finance officer, who by now was a lot less smug. "Well Mr H just because you're being allowed to apply it doesn't mean you'll get funding. It will go to a commity of which im the chair and we will make the decision...and rest assured if the vote goes against you i will ring you personally to tell you".....Tool.

That was 2 month ago. This morning i got a letter of accepance telling me my union had funded the rehab and i would be attending in Oct. woop woop woop final victory!!!

Needless to say i've heard nothing from the finace officer so i might ring him tomorrow...just to see how he is!!

Moral of the story is never give up even when it look like your chips are down and all is against you. There is a lot of other red tape in this story this is just the watered down version a lot more went on. And it looked hopeless for a long time.

Never give up peeps as a very boring man once said to me you haven't failed until you give up.
