Schloss No.1

In the first of my series of castle pictures, I hereby present Castle Reichenstein.
It dates from around the 11th Century. There are numerous castles perched on the hills/cliffs on both sides of the middle and upper Rhine valley.

I like castles which you can explore. And certainly all of the ones visited were fantastic in that respect. Up rickety old staircases, down into cellars, climbing the turrets. Fab!

Reichenstein is just North West of a beautiful little town called Rüdesheim.
Is Rüdesheim the only pub in the Rhine valley to have a Scottish pub?!
Didn't venture in as the music most certainly wasn't of a Scottish nature.
