An Old Airman's Life

I had always meant to stop and blip these flowers. They were prettier when they first bloomed. They were brighter in the direct August sun. For some reason, I never got around to it until today. I know little about flowers and less about these. Don't even know what their names are. Behind them, sets my commuter bike waiting patiently to continue up the Katy Trail. All the fair weather walkers, runners and cyclists were out in force. Makes for an interesting ride. People to look at. Dogs to dodge. Babies in carriages or in bike trailers.

Last night, a couple of friends and I rode to a beer sampling. A traditional bock beer made by Rahr and Sons here in Fort Worth. The Central Market patio was under destruction/construction and more people than it could hold showed up for the event. The band played a lot of great music. Many of my friends were on hand.

Tomorrow will be a different kind of cycling. The Cowtown Classic is a 62 mile/100k ride through the rolling hills just south of Fort Worth. I have not ridden that far since my surgery, but I am pretty sure I am up to it. If not, I guess I will finish the ride in the SAG wagon. No shame in that. I always get to play the "I am an old man so don't bug me" card. And when I do make it, I get to say "Hey you should have ridden farther/faster because an old man just did the same thing."
