Wherewithal

1. So Gilly created Wherewithal. It's this thing, in the Southside studios, where she produces a bit of theatre and music in the back court. It started last night, happened tonight and will be there tomorrow too.

2. It so happens that it's my brothers play, Backpacker Blues, that is being performed by an amazing actor and directed by the very wonderful Gary McNair.

3. And there we all are, about 80 or so of us cramming into the bleachers and benches to watch the show. I have such good memories of this play, but it's years since that and tonight it is alive and wonderful once again under the fairly lights and the sky.

4. From our position at the back we see a light go on across the way. The light goes out and a moment or two later we notice that the neighbours have come out and moved to their back fence. They form an audience opposite us all and there, they watch the performance and smoke a fag.

5. A truly tremendous achievement tonight Gilly my friend. I am so happy to be part of it.
